Ariana Madix Prefers 'Quality Over Quantity' When It Comes to Drinking: I'm Not 'Hanging Out at the Bar Too Much'

These days, Ariana Madix is all work - with just a little play.

The Vanderpump Rules star, 38, partnered up with Red Robin on the Burgertini, a vodka martini made with pickle brine, burger juices or beef broth, muddled tomatoes and garnished with bacon and brioche bun pieces. The drink, inspired by the chain's new upgraded burgers, has "amazing savory flavor" and is the kind Madix will indulge in from time to time.

“I rarely get out of the house lately, so when I am going to drink something, I want it to be good,” she tells PEOPLE, adding that she goes for “quality over quantity” lately. “I want it to have elevated ingredients or interesting flavors because I am not really hanging out at the bar too much these days.”

Madix is busy competing on this season of Dancing with the Stars with her partner Pasha Pashkov. With the rigorous schedule that comes with the ABC show, Madix says she hardly celebrates her dancing wins. “After the Tuesday show I go out to a restaurant and have maybe one glass of wine and then I’m back home and back in it,” she tells PEOPLE.

The creativity of dancing has been “healing” for the star, who split from Tom Sandoval earlier this year after nine years together. She says she feels “really free” while on the DWTS stage.

Similarly, Madix has been able to be get creative with her newest cocktail book, Single AF Cocktails. She shared the news of her second cocktail book, out in December, on Instagram in August, calling the new book her “breakup album.”

As Bravo fans know, Madix was blindsided in early March when she discovered that Sandoval, 41, had secretly been engaged in a months-long affair with their castmate Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 29.

Madix dove head first into work following the split. "I've always been a really hard worker," she says.

"I'm kind of just eyes on the prize right now — really, really focused on dancing and rehearsal and making sure that my body stays healthy," she adds.

She describes her latest project with Red Robin as "a cross between a classic dirty martini and somewhat of a Bloody Mary because of the tomato and pickle brine. It has that amazing savory flavor to it that I love.”

Though her Burgertini cocktail won’t be on Red Robin's menus, the chain is giving away 50 cocktail kits so winners can make the drink at home. To have the chance to try Madix’s burger-inspired drink, fans have to follow Red Robin’s Instagram and enter the sweepstakes from Oct. 17 to Oct. 31.
