The Simon Cowell show wants to tap into young, social network-savvy viewers
Simon Cowell‘s new show X Factor will feature a new way for fans to vote.
Winners of the singing competition, which features a $5 million recording contract as grand prize, will be determined in part by fans voting on Facebook, sources close to the production tell PEOPLE.
When the former American Idol judge’s show premieres in the fall on Fox, producers hope to tap into the same young, social network savvy audience that dominates the British version of X Factor.
Audience members will also be able to vote by phone. The show will also feature celebrity judges.
