In a new episode of HBO’s VICE set to air this Friday, hidden camera footage shows workers building the Trump International Golf Club in Dubai living in unsanitary, overcrowded conditions and sharing a bathroom that “didn’t look fit for human beings.”

VICE correspondent Ben Anderson takes viewers behind the scenes of the project – which, according to The Daily Beast, bears Trump’s licensed brand name but is not being built directly by Trump’s company – as he follows a busload of workers who travel two hours into the desert to return to their living quarters.

“Stuck in the middle of nowhere, this camp was also awful,” Anderson narrates.

The clip shows a tiny, grimy kitchen that serves roughly 150 workers, and an outdoor bathroom area that reeks of sewage, according to Anderson.

One worker said his basic salary was just $231 a month, while another said he would rather be home in Pakistan than in Dubai – but he cannot leave because the company that employees him took his passport.

A spokesperson from Trump’s presidential campaign did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
