Everything to Know About Olivia Jade, Lori Loughlin's Daughter Named in Alleged Admissions Scam
The documents say actress Loughlin — best known for her role as Aunt Becky on the ABC sitcom Full House — and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”
Federal agents obtained emails from Loughlin allegedly implicating her in the scam, according to the documents.
A rep for Loughlin did not immediately return calls by PEOPLE for comment.
Loughlin has two daughters with Giannulli, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, though Olivia’s status as an uber-popular YouTuber and social media influencer has propelled her into the public eye. Here’s what you need to know about Loughlin’s 19-year-old daughter.
1. She is a communications major at USC
Olivia is a freshman at the University of Southern California, where she is a communications major, according to Teen Vogue.
Last fall, she told the outlet she was thrilled to begin college, saying “I’m most excited to meet new people and change up my content on YouTube to do more college-themed videos.”
In September, Olivia uploaded a tour of her college dorm room and shared a “Get Ready With Me” video while she prepped to go out for her first college party.
2. She is an influencer with a successful YouTube channel
Loughlin’s daughter is a popular beauty and lifestyle vlogger and influencer, with over 1.9 million subscribers on her YouTube channel and 1.3 million followers on Instagram. Her videos cover beauty, fashion and lifestyle topics, from morning routines to makeup tutorials to vlogging her daily college life.
She posts consistently on YouTube — usually about once or twice a week. The last video uploaded before news of the alleged scam broke on Tuesday morning was a clothing haul posted on Sunday.
“I would say it’s lifestyle — everything from makeup to fashion tips to different budget-friendly type things,” Olivia told PEOPLE in 2017. “I do a lot of vlogs which my followers tend to love because they get a more personal aspect. Just kind of lifestyle in general.”
Olivia also told PEOPLE that she hopes to one day transition her YouTube channel into a makeup or fashion company.
“When I started YouTube, I didn’t even really consider it work, so honestly my passion is filming videos,” she said. “I’m literally interested in fashion and designing. At the end of the day, my end goal would be to create a makeup line.”
“I’m just trying to figure out ways to grow my audience so that when the time comes, it makes sense,” the social media star continued. “I’ve never really been, in high school at least, into sports or school activities because I guess I have a different creative mind.”
3. She once apologized for saying she didn’t ‘really care about school’
Olivia faced backlash last year when she posted a video in which she said she was only interested in attending college for the parties.
While answering fan questions, Olivia said she wasn’t sure how she planned to balance her social media career while taking classes at the University of Southern California.
“I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend but I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all,” she said. “But I do want the experience of like game days, partying… I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”
After reading the comments, Olivia posted a second video apology, admitting she was “disappointed” in herself.
“I said something super ignorant and stupid, basically. And it totally came across that I’m ungrateful for college — I’m going to a really nice school. And it just kind of made it seem like I don’t care, I just want to brush it off. I’m just gonna be successful at YouTube and not have to worry about school,” she said in the video. “I’m really disappointed in myself.”
4. She has had multiple brand deals
Due to her status as an Instagram influencer, Olivia has partnered with numerous brands on her social media channels, from Lulu’s to Tresemme. She also collaborated with Sephora in December 2018 to release an Olivia Jade x Sephora bronzer and highlighter palette.
5. She takes inspiration from her famous mom
In 2017, she told PEOPLE that watching her mom get ready for red carpets sparked her interest in creating a YouTube channel.
“Growing up in L.A., I would watch makeup artists get my mom ready for events,” Olivia said. “She actually wouldn’t let me watch YouTube when I was little because she thought everything on the internet was dangerous.”
In her interview with PEOPLE in 2017, Olivia also shared the advice that she’s learned from her parents.
“From both of my parents, [I learned that] hard work pays off and dedication and always being on time,” she said. “Just being responsible — especially because I’m in school so I need to make sure my school work comes first, but also learning how to manage everything.”
