According to West Wing costars Janel Moloney and Bradley Whitford, our favorite political lovebirds are still going strong. We last saw politicos Josh Lyman and Donna Moss a 10 years ago as the finally managed, after seven seasons of whip-smart banter and subtle flirting, to make it work and were shown together on the series finale, implying that their relationship was endgame. PEOPLE recently caught up with the actors for a status check on the relationship: Would Josh and Donna still be together today? “Yes, of course,” Moloney says, sending shippers’ hearts soaring. It’s hard to believe now, but the couple wasn’t originally in the long-running drama’s master plan. That all changed when Whitford and Moloney reported to set and immediately displayed the palpable chemistry that fans came to know and love. “The first day when we shot, I just went around behind the monitor and I said, ‘Oh my god, I love her,'” Whitford, now 56, says about Moloney. “I felt immediately that this would be a great thing.” Moloney, now 46, was also pleasantly surprised about the easy rapport the two actors had. “I did not know that there was such a chemistry between us, which there really was,” she says, adding that it was “meant to be” because it spontaneously happened as opposed to when studios spend hours trying to find actors that work well. But even though the actors’ connection was instant, their characters’ love took its sweet time to catch up on screen. For her part, Moloney never had any doubts about her character’s feelings: “I had my own sense that Donna was totally in love with him.” • Reporting by KRISTEN O’BRIEN
