After Allison Janney revived her West Wing character at a White House press briefing last week, the no-nonsense press secretary showed up on The Late Late Show Wednesday night alongside host James Corden – but she wasn’t alone. Bradley Whitford, a.k.a. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman, also joined in for Corden’s riff on West Wing scribe Aaron Sorkin‘s signature walk-and-talk. Before the chat and swag starts, Janney’s C.J.) asks, “Sir, we need to talk about the jokes for tonight’s monologue – should we talk about them in your office, which is right there and extremely convenient?” Replies Corden, “I don’t know. I feel like it’d be more visually compelling to walk and talk.” From there, they run through the day’s punchlines, including Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign and Cinco de Mayo. As is only right, the conversation quickly turns meta – and Corden even throws in an oblique Friends reference for good measure. Safe to say it’s a sketch for all to enjoy whether you’re a West Wing fan, you’re smarter than a Whoopi Goldberg impersonator or if you’re just getting into your Cinco de Mayo mindset. The Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights (12:35 a.m. ET) on CBS.
