Contrary to earlier reports of health concerns, singer Wayne Newton announced today that his doctors have cleared him to perform on the upcoming 38-city Dancing with the Stars tour.

Newton, who was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy earlier this month, was forced to cancel several Las Vegas performances. After several weeks under his doctors’ care, Newton reports that he will join his season five Dancing partner Cheryl Burke on the tour.

“Having spent my life in show business, the Dancing with the Stars experience has certainly become a highlight,” Newton said in a statement issued to PEOPLE. “I’m thrilled that my doctors have given me the ok to hit the road this winter and perform for all of my fans across the country.”

Newton and Burke will be joined by an ensemble dancing cast including Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas, Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts, Monique Coleman, Joey Lawrence, Edyta Sliwinska, Alec Mazo and Brian Fortuna.
