Ricky Gervais fans know that the Derek star enjoys posting bathtub selfies on Twitter that show him pulling strange faces amid the bubbles.

So he was more than up to the task on Friday when Jimmy Fallon asked him to copy kids’ funny faces from videos sent into The Tonight Show by viewers.

But when he saw the first one, he got a little concerned.

“Oh no, I’ve got a beard that’s not fair,” Gervais, 53, complained, claiming that it put him at a disadvantage. “You’ve got a big, pudgy, naked face,” he told Fallon. “You’re gonna win.”

“What are you talking about?” Fallon replied, gesturing to his cheeks. “This is a normal non-pudgy –”

“No!” Gervais cut in. “I’m way too handsome with a beard to do this well.”

“You can do this!” Fallon insisted.
