is bringing the opulence, ambition and – oh my! – drama experienced by the women in an elite circle of professional athletes’ Wives and Girlfriends (WAGS).

“When people look at us they see the glitz and the glam, but there’s a lot of things that come with being in this type of relationship,” says queen WAG Sasha Gates in an exclusive supertease for the new E! series.

“However, you’re walking in there, it’s a representation of your man, too, and I gotta represent him the best I can,” says Gates, who’s married to San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates.

Ashley North, who’s engaged to Washington Redskins free safety Dashon Goldson, points out the less glamorous side of being involved with someone super high-profile: “You know that you’re not always [your partner’s] No. 1 priority, and you have to be comfortable with that.”

But there are plenty of fancy cars, extravagant vacations and endless shopping sprees – not to mention tense disagreements and mascara-streaking tears – to go around in this exclusive echelon.

Many of the latter we suspect could be avoided if the younger WAGS would heed Gates’ warning: “Know your place in the hierarchy. There are rules.”

Premiering Aug. 18 on E!, WAGS also stars Autumn Ajirotutu, wife of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Seyi Ajirotutu; Barbie Blank, fiancée of former Anaheim Ducks player Sheldon Souray; Nicole Williams, four-year girlfriend of Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive lineback Larry English; Natalie Halcro, who dates NFL player Shaun Phillips, and her cousin/BFF/business partner Olivia Pierson, who’s been linked to players from the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Clippers.
