The MTV Video Music Awards – aka one of, if not, the most hallowed pillars in American pop culture – are this weekend.

This is the show responsible for such iconic moments as a wedding dress-clad Madonna writhing around singing “Like a Virgin.” It’s where Diana Ross went to second base with Lil’ Kim because the rapper decided to sport a bedazzled, purple pasty rather than, say, a bra on her left breast. And where Lady Gaga rocked raw beef on the red carpet. It’s where Beyoncé announced she was pregnant with Blue Ivy. And, lest we forget, where Miley Cyrus twerked on Robin Thicke with a foam finger and gaggle of backup-dancing bears (#neverforget #leavemileyalone).

While the most historical and memorable moments are often the spontaneous ones, here are five things you can expect at this year’s 32nd VMAs.

1. Miley’s Hosting – And She’s Gonna Do Her Thang
Two years after #twerkgate, Cyrus returns to the VMAs stage – only this time, to host because, as she posted on Instagram: “MTV won’t let me perform.”

No one knows what she has planned (we have a few predictions), but the “Wrecking Ball” star told the New York Times it’ll be “psychedelic” and “raw.”

“They said, ‘This is your party,'” Cyrus, 22, added.

And we all know she can turn up.

2. Another Awards Show, Another New Video from Taylor Swift
First she debuted her epic “Bad Blood” music video at the Billboard Music Awards (for the record, it nabbed seven of her 10 nods). Now, T-Swift will premiere the video for her fifth single off her record-breaking 1989: “Wildest Dreams.”

The clip – in which Swift stars opposite Scott Eastwood and a herd of zebras – is scheduled to play during the pre-show.

3. Kanye West is Taking the Stage; Expect Him to Pull a Kanye
Kanye West has a storied past when it comes to taking the stage at award shows (see: that time he told Taylor Swift that Beyoncé should have gotten her Video of the Year VMA; see also: that time he told Beck that Beyoncé should have gotten his Album of the Year Grammy). But hey, the award’s actually for him this time!

The rapper-slash-husband of Kim Kardashian West will take home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

This is the guy who likened his nickname after Jesus Christ and told people he was a god in his song “I Am a God.” Expect an unforgettable acceptance speech.

4. Justin Bieber Will Officially Launch His Comeback Performing ‘What Do You Mean’
After some breakups and brushes with the law the past few years, the teen sensation-turned-bad boy is back to focusing on what he does best: creating über-catchy music.

Bieber will perform his new single “What Do You Mean,” one of the most-hyped releases of the year. (But seriously, everyone from Alec Baldwin to Ariana Grande helped count down the days to its release today.)

The dance track is expected to race up the charts and should boost his comeback campaign, which the singer began earlier this year when he declared he had turned over a new leaf.

5. Britney, Bitch!
Britney Spears has had her fair share of notorious moments on the VMAS, from sharing the stage with a live python in 2001 to her and Madonna’s infamous lady-kiss in 2003.

All we know she’ll be presenting the first Moon Man of the night and that she’s sitting front-row with Kylie Jenner.

But, if she were to treat us to an impromptu routine of her countless hits a la her Piece of Me Vegas residency, too, we wouldn’t be mad about it.

The VMAs air Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
