Demi Lovato might have renamed her latest tune tonight. We’re officially calling it “Red Hot for the Summer.”

She promised MTV that her performance of “Cool for the Summer” at the Video Music Awards was going to be “sexy” and “really fun” – and yep, she delivered.

Lovato was joined by special guest Iggy Azalea for her first turn on the VMA stage (she’s previously performed at the pre-show), and together the pair brought a beach and confetti party to the streets of Los Angeles.

The singer, 23, also scored high points for her super sexy arrival on the event’s red carpet at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday. The pop superstar wore a skin-tight pink mini dress with plunging neckline and a slicked-back bob.

Lovato recently did a racy photo shoot and interview for Cosmopolitan where she discussed her newfound confidence.

“It took so much for me to get to a place where I would feel comfortable enough to do that, and if anything it’s [for] all of my fans who know my story and my journey,” Lovato – who has struggled with eating disorders in the past – told E! News. “I’ve gone from hating every inch of my body to doing a photo shoot in my underwear in front of the entire world.”
