The MTV Video Music Awards are this Sunday, and while we still can’t make up our minds on who should take home the coveted Moon Man trophy for Video of the Year, a tougher category is keeping us awake at night: the Artist to Watch Award.

Among the nominees are FKA twigs (Robert Pattinson’s ladylove), Fetty Wap, Vance Joy, George Ezra and James Bay. If you’re not familiar with the artists up for the award, you soon will be. Scroll through to get nuggets of wisdoms about each singer:

FKA twigs

Song You’ve Definitely Heard: “Pendulum”
What It Sounds Like: The vocal equivalent of cuddling in bed with kittens and puppies.
Fun Fact: She originally wanted to go by “twigs” but added the FKA (formerly known as) once she discovered another artist with the same moniker.
Her Biggest Celebrity Fan: The singer’s fiancé Robert Pattinson! Not only does he accompany her overseas on tour, but also to smaller shows in N.Y.C.

Fetty Wap

Song You’ve Definitely Heard: “Trap Queen”
What It Sounds Like: A party that never ends. Also, it’s now synonymous with Doug thanks to this brilliant video.
Fun Fact: He predicted he would get signed to a label in 90 days. He didn’t – but was signed in 132 days. Not bad!
His Biggest Celebrity Fan: So many covers, so little time. Although T-Swift invited the man himself to surprise fans at one of her shows, Ed Sheeran’s acoustic take on “Trap Queen” on the Tonight Show takes the cake.

Vance Joy

Song You’ve Definitely Heard: “Riptide”
What It Sounds Like: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros meets Cold War Kids.
Fun Fact: The film mentioned in "Riptide" – “There’s this movie I think you’ll like” – is Midnight Cowboy; he also happens to be a really big movie buff.
His Biggest Celebrity Fan: Aside from lovesick teenagers around the globe, we’ll have to give this honor to Taylor Swift. The “Bad Blood” singer recruited Joy to be an opening act on her 1989 world tour, which also happens to boast the most sold-out performances. How’s that for exposure?

George Ezra

Song You’ve Definitely Heard: “Budapest”
What It Sounds Like: Jack Johnson meets Caleb Followill.
Fun Fact: The singer is collaborating with Burberry.
His Biggest Celebrity Fan: Sam Smith, who pegged Ezra to be his opening act on his world tour.

James Bay

Song You’ve Definitely Heard: “Hold Back the River”
What It Sounds Like: Like James Bay is the personification of velvet.
Fun Fact: While inspired by Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Miles Davis, Bay is quick to talk about, yes, Taylor Swift. “I think everything off her new album is really great, but I’ve always loved ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ I think that’s an incredible pop song, I really do,” he tells PEOPLE.
His Biggest Celebrity Fan: The Rolling Stones! The iconic rock band offered him one of the opening spots in their Hyde Park concerts in London in 2013.
