Victoria Justice was in fifth grade when she saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time and told her agent when she learned of the upcoming Fox remake, “I have to be a part of this.”

The actress, who will play Janet in the remake of the 1975 musical film, explained her auditioning process at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday.

“I had heard my agent one time mentioned in the past that Fox is doing a remake and I was like, ‘Wait what? Are you kidding me? I have to be a part of this,'” the 23-year-old said of the project, slated to hit the small screen this fall. “I auditioned and screen-tested, had to read with some oily men who auditioned for Rocky, and I got to sing ‘Touch Me.’ It really was a dream come true.”

Starring alongside Ryan McCartan in the Fox film, the duo will take over the roles made famous by Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick.

“I just remember the first time I saw it. I had never seen anything like it before in my life,” Justice said. “I loved the music. I loved the candidness – just the color the characters and the whole story had. It really is so unique.”

She also revealed that she dressed up to attend a midnight showing with friends at the age of 15.

“I remember wearing fishnets, my red-feathered boa and red lipstick. I totally got so into it,” she said. “It has captivated me ever since then. I’ve been a fan for a long time.”
