From the wildly popular High School Musical to the upcoming Grease: Live production, Vanessa Hudgens knows a thing or two about hanging out in high school halls – but funny enough, the star was homeschooled!

During a Wednesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actress joked about her tendency to take high school roles (“I never graduate!”) and opened up about her upcoming role as Betty Rizzo in the live telecast of the famous film.

“I definitely watched [Grease] growing up. I feel like it always a part of my life,” Hudgens, 27, told Jimmy Kimmel, though she admitted she used to envision herself as more of a Sandy.

Now, though, she “welcomed” the challenge of taking on Rizzo.

“I mean, she’s such an amazing part,” Hudgens said. “Now that I’m older, I’m like, oh my God. She’s tough. She’s got grit.”

As for whether she’s nervous about the live element of the show, Hudgens admitted she didn’t start feeling the pressure until she took a tumble during rehearsal.

“We were doing ‘Sandra Dee’ and I stepped on a bench in front of the bed and it flipped and I just fell on my butt so hard,” she recalled. Plus, there’s the fact that “People want you to mess up.”

“It’s horrible,” she said. “You think you’re dying, and someone wants you to mess up. They’re like, ‘Ha-ha, it s so funny,’ and you’re like, ‘I hurt!’ ”

But the best part of Hudgens’ interview was probably when she was discussing Didi Conn, the actress who played Frenchie in the original movie and who will star in the live production as well.

“She’s amazing. She’s playing Vi,” Hudgens said. “Vi is the waitress who works at the Frosty Palace who has a scene with Frenchie before ‘Beauty School Dropout,’ so it’s amazing, it’s like the generations staring at each other!”

And it turns out that Conn, now 64, still has the same high-pitched, sing-songy voice – and Hudgens’ impression of her is amazing. Watch the clip to hear it for yourself.
