Vanderpump Rules' LaLa Kent Split from Randall Emmett When He Broke Their No-Alcohol Pact
Despite breaking up with her wealthy boyfriend, Lala Kent wasn't worried about her "financial situation"
Lala Kent and Randall Emmett’s road to marriage has been bumpier than we realized.
On Monday night’s Vanderpump Rules, the SUR hostess revealed that the couple had secretly split before getting engaged late last summer.
Throughout the girls’ trip to Solvang, California, Kent had made good on her promise to abstain from alcohol, diligently sipping water while her friends got sloshed at wine tastings. But when she returned to Los Angeles, she found that her producer boyfriend hadn’t been sober.
“I came home from Solvang and saw Randall had partied to the point where he doesn’t even know his own name. You’re slurring your f—ing words. That doesn’t work for Lala,” she told the camera. “I feel betrayed because we made a pact. This is a hard time for me, and I need my partner, I need my soulmate, and I need someone to back me up.”
“He claims it’s because I’ve been very, very, very un-loving and harsh the past week,” she added to pals Brittany Cartwright and Katie Maloney-Schwartz, breaking down in tears.
That’s when she admitted that the two were over (for the time being.)
“I decided to take a break from him,” she said, crying and clutching a glass of rosé. “There’s just a lot going on. I’m just so f—ed up right now. I don’t think I can be with Rand. He kept my Gucci slides, like took them from me and was like, ‘I want you to remember.’ You want my f—ing Gucci slides? Take them. Take them!”
Maloney-Schwartz was shocked that he’d hold his wealth over Kent like that.
“This whole thing just seems ridiculous,” she said in a confessional. “Like, she’s some kind of child and you took away a toy you got them because you want to punish them? I mean, come on.”
But Kent wasn’t worried about losing her luxurious lifestyle along with her relationship.
“Obviously with my financial situation, like, I know I can afford my rent, which he was paying, but I can afford it on my own. I can afford a car on my own. The only thing that will be different is it’s not going to be like, oh, we’re going to be traveling on a private jet to f—ing Mykonos, which, guess what, honey? There’s a lot of d— out there for me to suck to get on a p.j. I’m just letting you know,” she said as her friends laughed.
“Like no matter what, I can still live that life,” she added. “You just need to have a mouth, baby. It doesn’t matter what you look like.”
Of course, the couple patched things up after that episode was filmed; Emmett, 47, proposed to Kent, 28, during a romantic trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in early September 2018 — just in time for her birthday.
It was a tough year for the reality star, whose father died in April.
“My dad is just a memory,” she told Stassi Schroeder earlier in Monday’s episode, breaking down. “I just miss him a lot. I’ve really retreated from everybody, including Rand. Because I don’t — it’s such a heavy thing. I’m just mad that this happened.”
Vanderpump Rules airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
