Hello citizens! It’s great to be back in L.A.! Tuesday’s So You Think You Can Dance performances were stellar. Each dancer left their heart on the stage last night. Before I move along and share my thoughts about the show, I have to say that my heart goes out to Ashleigh, who injured her shoulder and couldn’t perform. I wish her a speedy recovery.

Jakob and Mollee were the standout couple of the night! Both pieces were absolutely magical! Jakob has the Midas touch! His progress and growth has been consistently golden. I definitely agreed with Nigel when he said that everything in their waltz “fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.” It was beautiful to watch.

Jakob and Russell tied for standout solo of the night. Russell kept it fresh with the concept of Santa Krump (and kept his cool when he lost his shoe!) and Jakob owned the stage with progressions of beautiful leaps and turns. They showed such a different way to move through the music, but both of them have their own custom swag which made it enjoyable to watch no matter what style you prefer.

As for the stand out routines of the night, the contemporary piece performed by Legacy and Ellenore was absolutely amazing. The brilliant Travis Wall choreographed it. He knows how to create a concept and give you cohesion of story and vivid details to remember along the way! Nigel called the couple “fearless” and he was spot on. It takes an intense trust and faith in a partnership to pull something like this beastly routine off. And yes, you read that right … beastly! So beastly in fact, that this combination of dancers and choreographer get the Beast Award of the Week!!!

I also enjoyed Ryan and Kathryn’s ballroom piece. They definitely deserved those two first class tickets on the “Hot Tamale Train!” Ryan was bold and masculine and Kathryn was sassy, sexy and commanded the stage! Adam Shankman hit the nail on the head when he called the piece a “beautiful, accomplished piece of teamwork.”

The next weeks will be the most difficult. Viewers have now seen what intense focus and resilient work can do for a dancer under pressure. The contestants have to make sure, however, that no matter how hectic everything else may be, their focus needs to remain spot on! Whatever they may go through — good or bad rehearsal, an argument, fatigue, or a negative comment from a judge — they have to remember that they can rely on something that no one else can take away . . . their focus! Keep your focus, and everything else will fall into place. Enjoy this time guys — you will never forget it!

Well, that does it from command central. Until next time! Stay funkyfresh!! Captain tWitch out!
