TV Roundup: The Osbournes’ $#@*% TV Comeback
• Backed by American Idol‘s production company, FremantleMedia, the Osbournes are planning a television comeback. Sharon, Ozzy, Kelly, and Jack are all slated to participate in a weekly variety show that has already been pitched to — and well-received by — all four major TV networks. Get your bleepers ready!
• Jeff Goldblum will replace Chris Noth on Law & Order: Criminal Intent when the series enters its eight season this fall. Noth was one of the original cops on Law & Order in 1988. Did you hear that, Sex and the City movie producers? Big is available for a sequel!
• The Emmys released the lists of top 10 finalists for best comedy and drama series. Family Guy was a big winner because its inclusion in the comedy category was a first for an animated series. Stewie was upset because the broadcast is after his bedtime — and because he’s not up for best actor in a comedy.
• Don’t be surprised if you see Barack Obama and John McCain during those My Super Sweet 16 marathons on MTV. For the first time in its 27-year history, the network will air political ads. Asked for a response, Obama and McCain both said, “I want to be made.” EMPICS /Landov
