Big Shots weren’t such hot shots with viewers. ABC pulled the freshman series from its Thursday lineup to be replaced with a freshman bully called Private Practice.

•And it looks like the end is here for NBC’s freshman series Journeyman, who was given his walking papers and told not to come back to its Monday timeslot or any other day of the week.

•PBS’ venerable anthology series Masterpiece Theater is getting a much-needed makeover beginning Jan. 13 –in the form of new host Gillian Anderson. We expect David Duchovny‘s Mulder to pop up between sitting room dramas with an X-File or two.

American Idol can’t stop giving back. Last year’s Idol fund-raiser was such a success–raising $75 million for charities in the U.S. and Africa–that a second edition is planned for the upcoming season. But seriously, how can you top Celine Dion‘s performance with a halogram Elvis?!
