Tracy Morgan continues to make slow but steady progress in his recovery from a traumatic brain injury that resulted from a tragic multi-vehicle crash last June.

The comic, 46, was photographed Monday walking with a cane while shopping with his fiancée, Megan Wollover, and their daughter.

While not fully recovered, Morgan is out of a wheelchair a few months after his attorney Benedict Morelli said that he was uncertain if he would be the Tracy Morgan he once was.

The former Saturday Night Live star was unable to attend the show’s 40th anniversary special in February, when Morelli told PEOPLE, “He’s still struggling with rehab to get better. He’s working hard to get well.”

In addition to cognitive impairments, Morgan suffered broken bones and facial fractures when a limousine bus carrying the comic and five others was involved in a six-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Police said the accident, which killed Morgan’s friend – 62-year-old comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair – was caused by a Walmart truck driver who didn’t see traffic slowing in front of his 18-wheeler until it was too late.

McNair’s family settled its wrongful death claim with Walmart in January.

Morgan has also filed a suit against Walmart.
