There are apparently no hard feelings in the Dancing with the Stars hosting hot seat.

Since being shockingly replaced by Erin Andrews as the co-host of ABC’s hit show for its 18th season (which kicks off on Monday), Brooke Burke-Charvet “has been very encouraging to Erin,” fellow host Tom Bergeron, 58, told PEOPLE on Tuesday.

“She and Erin have exchanged phone calls and voicemail messages. Erin was very complimentary to Brooke. So, in the midst of a difficult situation, there’s a whole lot of maturity going on.”

Even though much of the angst from Dancing‘s curveball has subsided, Bergeron – who just announced he’ll leave his 15-year hosting gig at America’s Funniest Home Videos after this upcoming season – still says, “I agreed with Brooke that the timing could have been better. We had drinks this week, as a matter of fact, and I gave her such props for how she handled it. She handled it with poise and humor and I was so impressed with that.”

So what will he miss most about the fit 42-year-old?

“Everything!” he gushed. “In an ideal world, I could work with both [Brooke and Erin]. Brooke and I are good friends. She’s an absolute lovely person. She was an on-camera friend, but she’ll always be a life friend.”
