Meet Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta's First Transgender Bride Precious Davis: 'My Fiancé and I Call Ourselves the Trans Obamas'
"I am a queen, and I am stately," Davis tells PEOPLE, "so that dress was the epitome that everything that I have ever dreamed of"
Precious Davis is in the middle of planning her summer wedding in Chicago to fiancé Myles, and the bride-to-be already has her dress picked out!
“I tried on three dresses and took details from the first and the second dress and put them together to make it perfect,” Davis tells PEOPLE of her custom Lazaro gown.
“It was everything that I had envisioned. I am a queen, and I am stately, and that is the way that I present myself so that dress was the epitome that everything that I have ever dreamed of.”
Which goes perfect with the theme of her nuptials.
“It’s very ethereal, stately – kind of channeling 1980s Dominique Deveraux [from] Dynasty,” she says. “Myles and myself call ourselves the trans Obamas, so we’re evoking a presidential state dinner because we feel that we are trans royalty.”
Just hours before her episode premieres, Davis couldn’t be happier to share her story with the world.
“It feels remarkable. To me it’s just so special, and it feels rewarding and validating,” she says.
“If it inspires a young child to see that we are a happy couple who are in love and resilient, and that the essence of our story is about truth and being who you are – that we as trans individuals have hopes and dreams and that you can accomplish them – then that is inspiring and the piece that moves me the most.”
