'The Young and the Restless' Actor Beau Kazer Has Died at 63

He was best known for originating the role of Katherine Chancellor's son Brock Reynolds

Genoa City is saying goodbye to another member of the infamous Chancellor clan.

Beau Kazer – best known for originating the role of Katherine Chancellor’s son Brock Reynolds on CBS’s long-running sudser The Young and the Restless – died Dec. 30 in Thousand Oaks, California, according to reports. He was 63.

The Ontario-born actor got his big break in 1974 by originating the role of Brock, the adult son of Katherine (the late Jeanne Cooper) on the daytime drama. After leaving the show in 1980, he appeared on and off from 1984 to 2013, when he returned to Genoa City to attend Katherine’s funeral. Brock fondly referred to his mother as “the duchess.”

Kazer also appeared on other shows like General Hospital, Hart to Hart and B.J. and the Bear.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Alkus.

The Young and the Restless has lost another of its own,” wrote Y&R star Daniel Goddard on his Facebook page. “RIP Beau Kazer. I remember the first time I heard your voice and thought wow! This guy should have been in radio! Then I watched u act and was blown away with how natural and honest your performances always were. God Bless.”
