Why Trisha Yearwood Cried While Recording Songs for Fox's The Passion
The country singer will perform songs by Whitney Houston, Jason Mraz and Lifehouse on Fox's live telecast March 20
Stepping into the shoes of the most well-known mother in the world has proven to be an emotional task for Trisha Yearwood.
“I’m having to sing songs that I’m going to be singing at the foot of the cross, and I had to be thinking about what was happening in the story when I was singing the song,” says Yearwood. “I got very emotional, which is not the norm for me in the studio. That was the last time I’ve cried.”
will integrate popular songs into the story of the last hours of Christ’s life.
As Mary, Yearwood will sing Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love”, Jewel’s “Hands”, Jason Mraz’s “I Won t Give Up”, Lifehouse’s “Broken” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
The Passion will feature stages in multiple locations around New Orleans and the star-studded cast – which also includes Telenovela‘s Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ, American Idol alum Chris Daughtry as Judas, Seal as Pontius Pilate, Latin recording star Prince Royce as the disciple Peter and Tyler Perry as the narrator and host – will sing live during the two-hour musical event.
