The Passion just got a little more epic.

PEOPLE can announce exclusively that Seal has now joined Fox’s upcoming biblical musical as Pontius Pilate, the Judaean politician who sentences Jesus Christ to death under the pressure of his constituents.

Seal joins Telenovela‘s Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ, American Idol alum Chris Daughtry as Judas, Latin recording star Prince Royce as the disciple Peter, country star Trisha Yearwood as Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Tyler Perry as the host and narrator.

Written by High School Musical scribe Peter Barsocchini, The Passion will tell the 2,000-year-old story of the last hours of Jesus Christ’s life on earth through passages from the Bible and a variety of contemporary popular music sung by the cast and arranged specifically for this event.

The live event will be broadcast from some of New Orleans’ most iconic locations and is slated to feature a procession of a thousand people carrying a 20-ft., illuminated cross from outside the Mercedes Benz Superdome to the live stage at Woldenberg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The television event is set to air live from New Orleans on Palm Sunday, March 20, on Fox.
