As they say, all happy families are alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way – and the way in which the title clan of The Family is unhappy is a real doozy.

The mysterious thriller follows Mayor Claire Warren (Joan Allen) as she runs for governor just days after her missing son Adam (Liam James) returns after a decade missing.

In an exclusive sneak peek at the premiere, Adam’s odd behavior arouses suspicion in his older brother Danny (Zach Gilford), prompting Danny to question not only what happened during the years Adam was abducted – but also whether the boy is actually who he claims to be at all.

Watch above to see how the mystery of this Family begins to unfold during the show’s premiere on ABC this Thursday at 9 p.m. ET; on Sunday, the Warrens will settle into their regular time slot at 9 p.m. ET.
