Former cast plus many guest stars of the reunite to christen new ships
Reunion on the Lido Deck!
The original cast of The Love Boat – along with a whole lot of former guest stars – gathered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Wednesday to help christen a new line of Princess Cruise ships.
But it’s unlikely the ships were nearly as interesting as the reunion itself, which included the drama’s original stars such as Gavin Macleod (Capt. Merrill Stubing), Lauren Tewes (Cruise Director Julie McCoy), Fred Grandy (Purser Gopher Smith), Bernie Kopell (Dr. Adam Bricker), Jill Whelan (Vicki Stubing), and Ted Lange (Bartender Isaac Washington).
Joining the veterans were some of the drama’s repeat guest stars, including Miss Cuchi-Cuchi herself, Charo. The Spanish-American actress, now 63, appeared on the ABC dramedy eight times.
The other actors who joined in on the reunion were Doris Roberts, Dick Van Patten, Joyce DeWitt, Charlene Tilton, Jamie Farr, Florence Henderson, Diane Ladd, Marion Ross, Kristy McNichol, Carol Lawrence, Lee Meriwether, Jeraldine Saunders, Lorenzo Lamas, Loni Anderson, MacKenzie Phillips, Adrian Zmed, Christopher Knight, Don Most and Tracy Nelson. Love Boat routinely brought back actors to play new characters, mostly out of necessity: the drama aired from 1977-1987. That’s a whole lot of cruises for the Pacific Princess!
If this latest reunion makes you long to relive the old days on the high seas, you’re in luck: TV Guide Network is airing a marathon of Love Boat episodes through Thursday.
