Ten years ago, 26 million viewers tuned in to see Bachelorette Trista Rehn marry firefighter Ryan Sutter.

On Saturday, the couple said ‘I do’ all over again in a more intimate ceremony in their hometown of Vail, Colo.

“It’s an understatement to say I hit the jackpot,” Trista, 41, tells PEOPLE of meeting her husband on the inaugural season of The Bachelorette. “He is such a good person. He gets better with age.”

Cameras captured the vow renewal, which will be featured in the ABC special The Bachelor: Bachelor Love Stories, on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 8 p.m. ET.

“We met in a fantastical way, but we live a normal life,” says Trista. “It’s what we did with our relationship afterward that matters most and was able to get us to the 10-year mark.”

In fact, the events that have unfolded in the past 10 years, including the arrival of the couple’s two children – son Max, 6½, and daughter Blakesley, 4½ – inspired Trista’s book, Happily Ever After: The Life-Changing Power of a Grateful Heart.

“It’s hard to articulate how lucky I feel to have her in my life,” says the soft-spoken Ryan, 39. “All it takes is a second for me to imagine how my life would be without her in it. It would be terrible.”
