Say what you will about Chad Johnson, but at least he’s consistent.

Following Monday’s Bachelorette finale came the After the Final Rose special, in which Johnson – the ultimate villain of JoJo Fletcher‘s season – did just what we expected him to do: He interrupted the live taping to talk about himself.

After host Chris Harrison asked Fletcher who she thinks the next Bachelor should be, she started to muse about Luke Pell or Chase McNary – but up popped Johnson, to which Fletcher gave a slight eye roll and said: “Not Chad!”

“There’s probably a lot of people out there that think I’m a bad guy because of the way that I was on the show,” Johnson says. “When they watch Bachelor in Paradise, it’ll probably only be amplified.”

“I made some mistakes,” he went on. “I’ve been through a lot this last year, I lost my mom. One of the things they didn’t show on the show is I’m also a Marine. I think that a lot to of people, they deserve love. I think I deserve love. So I think maybe I deserve to be the next Bachelor.”

As the audience began booing (with a few cheers mixed in), Harrison said with a laugh: “I feel it’s mixed emotions as best.”

That being said, Fletcher said she “can’t wait to watch” the upcoming season of BiP.

“It is truly a train wreck of epic proportions,” Harrison said. “I just want to say this ahead of time: I don’t love mimosas. The rest will make sense tomorrow.”

Bachelor in Paradise season 3 premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
