77th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

brightcove.createExperiences(); Well, if there’s one way to make sure things get interesting on everyone’s favorite dating show, it’s to take the Bachelor and plop him down in Mexico along with the remaining 11 women vying for his heart.

This week, ABC did just that with Ben Higgins, and things got pretty – dare we say it? – dramatic.

A Few Observations from the Arrival in Mexico

1. Ben thinks Mexico City is a great place to fall in love. He said this about Las Vegas last week. Is there anywhere Ben doesn’t think is the perfect place to fall in love?

2. Also, someone needs to tell Ben saying “Viva La Mexico” isn’t a thing.

3. We’ve never seen anyone so excited about a bathroom than these girls when they found a bidet in their hotel room.

4. Emily doesn’t feel like she has anything holding her back now that Ben sent her twin Haley home last week. Poor Haley.

5. Olivia thinks she and Ben have a “love language” because sometimes he touches her leg and looks her in the eyes when they are talking. Is that how that works?

One-on-One with Amanda

The first girl to land a one-on-one with Ben in Mexico is Amanda. Amanda has two kids and is very sweet, but Olivia didn’t think Ben “wants someone like Amanda” because she is a mother. (Olivia was guilty of a lot of parent-shaming in this episode, as we will see.)

Meanwhile, Ben was actually very into Amanda, starting from the moment when he showed up at the girls’ hotel room at 4:20 a.m. to pick her up for their date. While the rest of the ladies were naturally disheveled (Lauren H. sleeps with a retainer, but it’s okay, Ben does too!) and understandably horrified to be woken up by the man they are all trying to marry shining a flashlight in their faces in the middle of the night, Amanda looked positively angelic from the moment she was gently shaken awake by Ben.

“This is what I’m here for, is to just see these girls in their element,” Ben said. “They all look absolutely beautiful today, without hair, without makeup, they look better than I’ve ever seen.” (Further prove that Ben is a gentleman, because that was a lie.)

After giving Amanda 15 minutes to get ready (which was just unfair), she and Ben drove off to their destination. Just as we were thinking No helicopter this time? What gives, ABC?, the two pulled up to a hot air balloon, because God forbid Ben should keep two feet on the ground during a date.

Then they flew over ancient cities that we can’t even pronounce but that Ben seemed to know a lot about (how does he have all of these facts? How does he know that one pyramid in Teotihuacan took 300 years to build?), before landing in a field to have a picnic. At this point, Amanda was very nervous because she felt like there were things Ben didn’t know about her, which she ended up opening up about during the evening portion of the date and revealing that her ex-husband and the father of her two daughters had cheated on her.

Of course, Ben comforted her and said she didn’t deserve that before offering her the rose, but not before a little classic Ben self-deprecation: “It doesn’t quite make sense on how somebody like you could be interested in somebody like me, but I like it,” – Ben, we’ve been over this. This unlovable shtick has got to go. You are the Bachelor, now own it.

Ben Gets Real with Jubilee on the Group Date

Back with the rest of the ladies, things were starting to get uncomfortable as Jubilee was being angsty over the fact that Ben was dating other girls. (She must not have been clear about the premise of the show.)

This made the group date particularly awkward, as Jubilee, Becca, JoJo, Caila, Emily, Lauren B., Jennifer, Leah and Olivia were tasked with taking Spanish lessons with Ben in which they one by one stood up in front of the group and held hands with Ben as he said things like “I love you” and “I want to marry you” in Spanish to each and every one of them, because, you know, romance.

After that, the group made their way to a local market for a cook-off led by two Mexican chefs/siblings, Lula and Nicolas Martin del Campo. The twist, of course, was that they were given the recipes in Spanish – and that there was an uneven number of girls, so someone would get to pair up with Ben.

This led to a very uncomfortable back-and-forth in which Olivia and Jubilee fought over Ben while Ben looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and die, but Olivia eventually strong-armed Ben into being her partner for the day, forcing Jubilee to back down.

The date basically turned into a mini one-on-one for Ben and Olivia, and so by the time the evening rolled around, everyone was feeling pretty frustrated with her – and surprise, surprise, she was the first girl to steal him away that night.

Olivia’s moment with Ben, however, was completely overshadowed by two things: One, when he took Lauren B. out into the streets of Mexico and couldn’t keep his hands off of her, and two, when he broke up with Jubilee right after that. <img class="size-article-wide wp-image-2389752" src=" http://peoplev6.alley.ws/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/cover-435-27.jpg" alt="GET THE SCOOP ON EVERYTHING THE BACHELOR!” width=”2000″ height=”1333″>PEOPLE’s collector’s edition celebrating 20 seasons of The Bachelor, with new interviews and updates on your favorite contestants, is on sale now!PEOPLE’s collector’s edition The Bachelor, with new interviews and updates on your favorite contestants, is on sale now in stores and online!

Yes, that happened: When Ben pulled Jubilee aside for some one-on-one time, things quickly went south after she refused to hold his hand. Clearly frustrated, Ben started to question Jubilee about their connection, at which point she seemed to start panicking and even asked Ben to “please” not give up on her. Eventually, he flat-out told her it just wasn’t working and it would be unfair of him to tell her that he thought that something could exist between them based on how his other relationships are progressing.

Jubilee: “So you don’t [think there could be something between us]?”

Ben: “I do not. … I think it’s best that tonight maybe we say goodbye.” (Maybe? There’s clearly no gray area here, Ben.)

After that brutally honest response, he offered to walk her out in what would become the longest breakup-walk in Bachelor history. The corridors were winding, Jubilee was crying and Ben looked like a massage therapist escorting their client out after a session. It was painful to watch.

Ben then returned to the rest of the women and let them know what happened. JoJo jumped in and pulled Ben aside, and the two then proceeded to make out on the very same couch he had just dumped Jubilee on, which was awkward.

Ben: “I’m done breaking up with people after this.”

JoJo: “You’ve got 10 more to go!”

In a bizarre turn of events, Ben then decided to give the group date rose to someone he “reconnected with, that struggled for a while” … Olivia. Dun dun dun.

One-on-One with Lauren H.

The second one-on-one in Mexico went to Lauren H., a kindergarten teacher who is very sweet but sounds a bit like a kindergartener herself. The two met up at a local Mexico City boutique and then were introduced with one of the designers for a fashion-filled day.

“What most people don’t know about Mexico City is that it is known for its fashion,” – said no one ever before Ben.

The two were then tasked with walking in a Pineda Covalin fashion show that evening for Mexican Fashion Week. As far as one-on-one dates go, being forced to walk in a fashion show alongside several beautiful, leggy models in front of the man you’re trying to convince to propose to you probably wouldn’t be a girl’s first pick, but Lauren H. handled it like a champ. (Also, Ben totally slayed the catwalk.)

For the evening portion of their date, Ben said he needed to see if he and Lauren H. could be more than just friends because it had been “a slow burn” so far, and as the night progressed, the two ended up having a great time. Ben said he saw a new side of Lauren H. and was more attracted to her than ever, offering her the rose.

Olivia Makes a Super Inappropriate Teen Mom Joke – Does It Get Her Sent Home?

This week’s cocktail party was all about Olivia – and this time, she wasn’t complaining about her cankles, but instead doing some more of the above-mentioned parent-shaming with Amanda.

“I feel like it’s an episode of Teen Mom,” Olivia said in front of all the women as they were sitting in a group and Amanda was talking about who was taking care of her kids back home.

Really, Olivia? In what world did you think that comment was going to fly?

After the rest of the ladies’ clearly shocked reactions, Olivia attempted to backtrack, breaking down in tears and apologizing, saying she was learning a lot about herself.

This pushed Emily – who already couldn’t stand Olivia – over the edge, and she decided to tell Ben how she felt. A chain reaction followed as this prompted Ben to bring up the topic of Olivia with all the other women, inquiring how their relationships were with her, and of course, then it all came out.

Olivia, meanwhile, was on a total high because she had already secured a rose on the group date that week – but as Ben asked to talk with her again right before the rose ceremony, the other women started wondering if that meant he would be revoking the rose.

As for what’s next, we’ll have to wait until next week to find out. But something tells us Olivia isn’t going down without a fight.

The Bachelor airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
