The Bachelor EXCLUSIVE! Bachelor Ben Higgins opens up about why fiancée Lauren Bushnell “was always the one” and the decision he regrets the most. Subscribe now for all their wedding plan details plus exclusive photos, only in PEOPLE!

On Monday night, The Bachelor‘s Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell finally made their public debut as an engaged couple after an explosive season finale.

While there has been a fair amount of chatter surrounding runner-up JoJo Fletcher, who has since been confirmed as the next leading lady of The Bachelorette, what do we actually know about Higgins’ first pick and now-fiancée? Here are five things to catch you up on the woman who stole Higgins’ heart on ABC’s hit reality romance.

For much more from Ben and Lauren’s new life together, pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday

1. She’s from Portland, Oregon, but calls herself a Cali girl.

Bushnell, 25, might have grown up in Portland (which, rather fittingly, is known as the City of Roses!), but take one look at her Instagram and it’s obvious she’s all about the beach, warm weather and California sunshine.

And soon enough, Bushnell will be getting used to a completely different setting: She’s moving in with Higgins in Denver!

“It made the most sense for me to move,” Bushnell says in this week’s PEOPLE cover story. “And of course Ben, being the sweetest guy, was like, if you don’t like it, we can move! I’m more than excited. We’re starting a life together.”

2. She’s a flight attendant – but is she still working?

Bushnell, who was working as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines, regularly used to post pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #FALife (flight attendant life) and #ForeverOnVacation showcasing all the exotic places her job took her.

But on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, she explained she stopped working once the season really kicked off because too many people were recognizing her and it was interfering with her job.

“I worked [until the] end of January, so it had been airing for about a month,” she said. “It got a little crazy. People were so nice but it definitely got in the way of my pushing the cart down the aisle! I was a little slower at pouring drinks, I felt bad for my passengers.”

3. She’s super family-oriented.

Bushnell, who has one sister and two brothers, comes from a tight-knit family.

“Life just wouldn’t be the same without this group of weirdos,” she captioned a shot of her and her picture-perfect fam recently.

She’s also particularly close with her older sister, Mollie.

“Beyond blessed to have a sister like you!” she wrote on Instagram a couple of weeks ago.

And how does her husband-to-be get along with his future in-laws? Wonderfully, as it turns out – he even called Mr. Bushnell on Monday’s season finale to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage, and the whole family sent along their blessings.

“Any nerves I had immediately went away once I met her family,” Higgins wrote in his Bachelor blog after his hometown date with Bushnell and her family. “It’s like they are out of a Christmas movie on television or something! They were so warm and inviting, and I immediately felt at home.”

4. She’s a serious foodie.
Like, big time – from sushi to In-N-Out, Bushnell loves to indulge, as evidenced by her Twitter.

5. And she’s maintained good relationships with Higgins’ eliminated Bachelor contestants.
While the eliminated girls from this season of The Bachelor are technically her fiancé’s ex-girlfriends, there’s no bad blood between Bushnell and the rest of the women – in particular, she has remained close with Amanda Stanton, the Cali mom who made it to the final four before Higgins sent her home after hometowns.

“Can I just say, @amandastantonnn is the kindest most genuine most beautiful woman inside and out. I am so lucky to have you as a friend,” Bushnell tweeted last month.

As for Fletcher? Despite the drama of Higgins telling both his finalists he loved them, all three have since turned the page, and Bushnell and Fletcher remain friends.

“I think she’s an amazing person and I think the world of you,” Fletcher told Higgins on Monday’s After the Final Rose. “I think everything happened for a reason, and I’m really happy for you guys.”
