"I'm on a retail diet," the Real Housewives of New Jersey star says

Since Teresa Giudice was released from prison in December, she and husband Joe Giudice have worked on scaling their lifestyle down and managing their finances.

“We don’t have our shore house anymore, so we pretty much have our home,” the Real Housewives of New Jersey, 43, star tells PEOPLE in an exclusive video.

She adds, “Thank god for that!”

During her time on the Bravo series, Teresa was known as an avid shopper. However, that’s no longer the case now that she’s back home with her children, Gia, 15, Gabriella, 12, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6.

“I really don’t feel the urge to go shopping because I just miss my clothes so much,” she says. “It’s been 11 and a half months, so all my clothes, to me, are like new again. So, right now I’m on a retail diet. When I need something, I just go right in my closet.”

The Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again author also addresses the brand new black Lexus SVU that was waiting for her when she got home. She explains that her lease ended while was she away and she needed a car to drive her children around.

“I said to my honey, ‘Why did you put this big red bow on it?’ He’s like, ‘I ain’t put it on. Lexus did,’ ” she says.

Teresa’s new book Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again, was released Tuesday.
