Teresa Giudice is trying to stay strong as she wraps up a 15-month prison sentence for fraud to reunite with her family for Christmas.

In a heartbreaking sneak peek of The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In the mom of four calls eldest daughter Gia from the Connecticut detention center she entered last January.

“Is your makeup on?” an upbeat Giudice, 43, asks the 14-year-old, who stars to sob.

“My mom doesn’t want me or anyone to get emotional, so I try my best just to keep it all together,” Gia tells the camera in the clip, which first aired on Watch What Happens Live on Sunday.

If all goes according to plan, Giudice will be home for the holidays with her children and husband Joe.

“Several months back we were able to secure an early release date of Dec. 23,” her attorney James L. Leonard Jr. told PEOPLE earlier this year. “That means Teresa will leave the prison on Dec. 23 and go home and sleep in her own bed. Two days later she will wake up and celebrate Christmas with Joe and her girls.”

But when Giudice is released, Joe will begin his own prison sentence. The couple pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in March 2014.

“We haven’t let it break us and we won’t let it break us,” her sister-in-law (and RHONJ costar) Melissa Gorga told PEOPLE in July.

Teresa Checks In premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
