The Teen Mom OG star, 25, recently came under fire for modeling photos of her 7-year-old daughter, including one with a full face of makeup and one she posted in the midst of recent shootings throughout the country.
Abraham had no regrets when talking to PEOPLE Now and said she encourages her daughter to be creative and positive.
“There’s a lot of young children who do modeling, and everyone loves her pictures,” she said. “I think because we’re on Teen Mom OG, we get bad criticism, but Sophia’s doing amazing in modeling, I couldn’t be more proud of her – she’s opening up her own children’s boutique, we’re selling clothing. So the more pictures and more she’s in a positive light and happy with what she’s doing, there’s nothing wrong with embracing how awesome Sophia is.”
She continued, “I think all of our children are little stars, and if they want to take pictures like everyone does, there’s nothing to judge.” “It’s being inspired, it’s being creative, it’s being artsy, and I’m thankful that she has that drive.”
As for those who think she is using images her daughter to increase her own exposure, Abraham responded, “I’m not showing anything off. I actually loved the image, I loved the Martin Luther King quote and I love inspiring people … I think everyone should can share whatever they wish when their heart is touched and they want to spread more positivity rather than segregation and separation in this world.”
She added of her daughter: “I definitely want to steer her clear from any racism or segregation, and that’s that’s maybe why I utilized that [photo]. Sophia felt really bad as we were watching somebody’s boyfriend be shot on the news, and my dad was talking to her about that, and she said, ‘I want to make this with you.’ ”
“We embrace all of our friends from every background,” Abraham said. “Sophia’s well-rounded, she’s balanced, she doesn’t judge people, and I think that’s a blessing.”
Abraham will appear on Million Dollar Matchmaker Friday at 9 p.m. ET on WEtv, and Teen Mom OG returns to MTV in August.
