Teen Mom OG: Ryan Edwards' Wife Says He Was Allegedly Spending $10,000 a Week on Drugs
A bombshell was dropped on Monday night's season 7 premiere of Teen Mom OG
A major bombshell was dropped about Ryan Edwards on the season 7 premiere of Teen Mom OG.
Mackenzie Standifer, who married Edwards — he shares 8-year-old son Bentley with Maci Bookout — in the final moments of season 6, visited the troubled reality star in rehab in Dallas, Texas, on Monday’s episode.
Speaking to MTV producer, Kiki, about Edwards’ substance abuse issues, Standifer revealed that her husband had allegedly been paying a lot of money to obtain drugs.
“He said that he was using three times a day,” Standifer told Kiki while at her rental home in Texas. “Ten thousand dollars a week!”
“That’s a s— ton of money,” Kiki said.
PEOPLE has reached out to Standifer and Edwards’ reps.
“They say relapse is part of the recovery and that just scares the s— out of me,” Standifer said. “I had to tell him that I love him but that I’m not mad. He just needs to know how bad that hurts.”
Standifer also revealed that Bookout had a negative affect on Edwards during a therapy session in rehab.
“We had to do one-on-one therapy,” she said. “Oh my gosh. The therapist was like, ‘What do you think his triggers are?’ And I said one name and boy was he …”
Kiki interjected and said, “You literally said Maci’s name and he was already triggered.”
“He’s pissed,” Standifer said. “Ryan feels like he’s been belittled and like he’s never been given any credit — which he hasn’t. And the more I think about it, the more mad I get.”
“All of a sudden it’s, ‘Oh, I have no communication with Ryan.’ Yes, you do, and I watch you sit there and ignore his texts. Ryan is not a bad guy, and my blood boils because she literally does this for her own self whatever and it really is just pissing me off.”
In the same episode, Bookout confides in her friend Keelie that she has not heard anything about Edwards and his recovery from either him or Standifer.
“I don’t know if he’s just looking to do 30 days and come home … or maybe go to a halfway house,” Bookout said. “I have no idea. I hope those are the steps that he takes because I don’t feel like it’ll be fixed in 30 days.”

“I can tell you right now if he comes home before the 30 days [and] then if you don’t do what you need to do outside of your recovery as far as Bentley is concerned and as far as staying sober for real, then we’re done,” she continued. “It’s not just anybody we’re talking about, we’re talking about my child’s life.”
During the season 6 finale, audiences watched Edwards drive impaired while Standifer sat in the passenger seat. Instead of seeing a happy couple beam with joy en route to their nuptials, audiences witnessed Standifer repeatedly tap Edwards awake, and, at one point, take a hold of the steering wheel to keep the car from veering off the road.
Standifer accused Bookout of “humiliating” her and Edwards on the show during the Teen Mom OG Reunion special in July.
“Instead of solving the problem, or making an effort to solve it, you decided to humiliate Ryan, humiliate myself and his entire family, but more importantly, you’ve humiliated our children for years to come,” said Standifer, who has one son from a previous relationship.
She added, “Helping Ryan doesn’t mean talking about all of his problems on national television. It means being supporting, not kicking someone when they’re down, and respecting the privacy that we all so graciously deserve.”
The other moms in the episode struggle to come to grips with their own life-changing events. Amber Portwood put her engagement to Matt Baier on hold as he admitted on camera that he had relapsed earlier that year. Farrah Abraham made an effort to stop fighting with her mother’s fiancé while celebrating her birthday in New York City. Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra worried about Butch after his release from parole and his struggle with addiction.
Teen Mom OG airs Mondays (9 p.m. ET) on MTV.
