Breaking up is hard to.
On Thursday’s Teen Mom 2 reunion, Jenelle Evans dissolves into tears over the state of her volatile relationship with now ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith.
In an exclusive sneak peek at the episode, Evans tells host Dr. Drew Pinsky: “I just want my family together, and I’m sick of starting new relationships. I want to settle down forever.”
Evans, 23, thought she would have that forever with Griffith, who proposed in January. But just months later, the couple was already showing signs of struggle that led them to call off the wedding in July.
“I want to get along with the Nathan that I used to be best friends with,” says Evans, who was arrested twice this year for violent altercations related to Griffith.
“He just hasn’t been around lately, she continues, “and it hurts because I know the type of person he can be – really loving and caring and affectionate. But he hasn’t been lately. He’s been stand-offish because we did have an argument.”
“You understand you’re caught in the cycle of domestic violence,” says Pinsky, 57, who then asks whether Evans thinks it’s wise to continue fighting for custody of her 6-year-old son Jace if he’ll be living in these conditions (along with Griffith and Evans’ 1-year-old son Kaiser).
“I’m getting traumatized just hearing the story,” says Pinsky. “I imagine a little boy in the middle of a household where there is all going on would feel like he was in the middle of a tornado. Why do you want to put Jace in the middle of that?”
