The tenth season of The Biggest Loser premieres Tuesday (8 p.m. ET) on NBC, and season 7 star Tara Costa will share her thoughts, insider secrets and fitness tips with PEOPLE. Keep coming back each Wednesday to hear more from Tara and all about the new season.
I hope all of you are as excited as I am for another season of The Biggest Loser as I am sure we will be in for more tears, more yelling at the TV and, of course, some major motivation! But before we started the new season, I wanted to catch up with all of you. I have learned since being on The Biggest Loser that I like to give back to others and help others achieve their goals. So this past summer, I gave some thought on how I wanted to spend the rest of my life and I realized there are a few ways and I can look forward while giving back:
1. I am in the process of writing a book that will hopefully be able to help people stay motivated while trying to achieve their goals.
2. I have started my own charity called The Inspire Change Foundation. This summer I have really been getting into the nitty-gritty of establishing this organization.
3. I began the first steps in becoming a certified life coach.
4. I am currently taking classes for my masters in physical education.
Everything that I am doing now is centered on helping, teaching and inspiring. Before The Biggest Loser, I was content with a job. Now, I want a passionate career. I feel with everything that I have experienced thus far in my life, I can share my experience with others to help inspire change.
Of course, this meant a lot of work over the summer to get things off the ground, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t take some time out to play! Now what I consider “playtime” may differ a bit from others but it consisted of riding my bike 100 miles consecutively, hiking in the mountains of Vermont and swimming in the Pacific Ocean. I have been trying to do things that I have never experienced before.
Someone recently asked me, “When was the last time you did something for the first time?” What would your answer to this be? Summer might be coming to an end, but any time is a good time to do something for the first time! After all, in just a few days, a whole new group of contestants will be doing something for the first time – working out with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. Wish them luck!
