SYTYCD: It’s the End of the Line for Chelsea and Chris
More familiar faces landed in the bottom six again this week on So You Think You Can Dance as one more guy and girl were sent home. Unlike last Thursday, the decision appeared to be a little easier for the judges … and for the first time this season two dancers who were not partners, Chris Jarosz and Chelsea Traille, were given their walking papers.
Before host Cat Deeley got to the results, the remaining 16 dancers took the stage in black-and-white costumes to perform yet another Mia Michaels masterpiece.
Moments later, they got right down to the results. For the second week in a row, contemporary dancer Traille and her partner Thayne Jasperson were the first two to find themselves in the bottom three. The next returning couple: resident female hip hopper Comfort Fedoke and her contemporary partner Chris Jarosz. Finally, the last couple to join them would be Kourtni Lind and Matt Dorame. Before their solos, America’s Best Dance Crew “Quest” headed by former SYTYCD dancers Ryan Conferido, Hok Konishi, and Dominic Sandoval hit the floor in white lab coats to perform one super stylish hip hop routine (watch the clip), as the crowd (including Hok’s former girlfriend and SYTYCD alum, Lacey Schwimmer) watched in awe.
But that wasn’t the only surprise of the night: American Idol season six winner Jordin Sparks gave a live performance of “One Step at a Time” from her self-titled album.
Then, judge Nigel Lythgoe wasted no time informing Chelsea Traille that the journey for her was over. On the men’s side, Chris Jarosz was told to pack his bags and join Chelsea.
Afterwards, Chelsea, 23, the former Dallas Mavericks dancer from Houston, Texas, said that “this isn’t the end of the road.” A very emotional Chris, 21, a featured dancer in High School Musical 1 and 2, tried to hold back his tears while telling viewers that “this has been a dream come true. I love you all so much for everything!” –Jed Dreben
