Sutton Foster is looking forward to her next act.

“A lot of my goals are more personal now: I got married [to screenwriter Ted Griffin] a year and a half ago, and we’re talking about starting a family,” says the actress, who stars in Younger.

Like her character Liza on the TV Land dramedy, Foster is 40 – but while her character is parading around as a twenty-something, Foster is perfectly content in her age.

“I’m happier now. I feel much more comfortable in my skin, my mindset,” she says, adding with a laugh: “I’ve marinated well: I’m a better quality now than I was.”

Before winning over America’s heart on ABC Family’s Bunheads (2011), the actress first found fame on Broadway and has won seemingly every major prize in theater, including two Tonys. And while her career isn’t slowing down anytime soon – Younger has been picked up for a third season, and she’ll appear in the Gilmore Girls reboot – she’s excited to pursue other goals.

“It’s interesting because I’ve been opposite of my Younger character in many ways: I’ve been completely career-driven my whole life. And so now sort of making an adjustment of having more personal goals is new for me,” she says. “As far as what’s next, I have no idea. I just want to hopefully have a long career professionally and a happy life personally.”
