The record exec was shot multiple times at Chris Brown's pre-VMA party, PEOPLE confirms
Hip-hop mogul Suge Knight was shot multiple times early Sunday morning, TMZ reports.
Though they will not release the victim’s name, the L.A. Sheriff’s Department confirms to PEOPLE that at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a shooting took place at 1OAK nightclub, where two men and a woman were injured. “They were transported to local hospitals and they are expected to recover,” the department said in a statement. The shooter is still unknown, and the sheriff’s office continues its investigation.
According to TMZ’s sources, Knight was shot six times, in the stomach and arm and elsewhere, at the West Hollywood hotspot – where Chris Brown was hosting a pre-VMA party (unaffiliated with MTV) – and is now out of surgery. The site also notes Knight, 49, walked out of the party on his own, before police helped him into an ambulance.
Saturday night, Brown took to Instagram to publicize the party and his upcoming album, X. Then, Sunday morning, he addressed the shootings, Tweeting: “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bulls–––!!!”
Other celebrity guests inside the party included Black Eyed Peas rapper apl.de.ap, model Tyson Beckford and Coach Carter actor Robert Ri’chard.
