The new Late Show host made a great first impression in an appearance on Wednesday

He doesn’t step into his role as host of the Late Show until Sept. 8, but a clean-shaven Stephen Colbert proved he’s the man for the job as he entertained advertisers at Wednesday’s CBS upfront presentation in New York City

“You want young eyeballs and not just the kind Rupert Murdoch buys on the black market,” he joked on stage at Carnegie Hall.

He added that he would be the perfect fit for CBS, a network known for its CSI crime dramas, because, “Most of my show will be me solving murders by zooming in on pubic hairs.”

Most recently, the comedian also made many teachers smile by spending $800,000 funding every grant request South Carolina public school teachers had placed on crowdfunding website DonorsChoose.org.
