Entertainment TV 'Saturday Night Live' Bonus Footage Reveals Failed 'Star Wars' Audition Tapes from Emma Stone, Matthew McConaughey and More The Force Awakens cast could have looked a lot different By Stephanie Petit Stephanie Petit Stephanie Petit is a Royals Editor, Writer and Reporter at PEOPLE. In a bonus clip, Emma Stone, Matthew McConaughey and Jon Hamm do their best to land spots in The Force Awakens. However, they have some competition from SNL celebrity impersonators and actual Star Wars actors John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Ridley almost flubbed her audition when Janelle Monée, played by cast member Sasheer Zamata, turned their scene into a dance party. Stone probably lost the role because of her screen test with Javier Bardem (in this case played by SNL‘s Beck Bennett). Stone solemnly delivers her line, “If the First Republic takes over the galaxy, then everyone you love is doomed,” only for her chemistry test partner to respond, “And now we have the sex?” Last but not least, Hamm seems enthusiastic to be part of the Star Wars films, sporting full costume as he shouts, “Put up your space hands, J.J. Abrams!”
