After a season of surprises, spills and plenty of spandex, Splash came to an end Tuesday night.

The three finalists – Nicole Eggert, Rory Bushfield and Drake Bell – couldn’t be more different from one another. Eggert, 41, surprised herself and viewers with her performance, even joking to PEOPLE that she missed her “calling” as an athlete. Bushfield, 29, a professional extreme skier, has predictably done well on the show, but ruptured an eardrum while training. And Bell, 26, has seriously impressed the judges (and diving great Greg Louganis) with his athletic prowess.

So who came out on top in the reality competition finale? Read on to find out

After the first round of dives left Bell eliminated by the judges’ scores, Eggert and Bushfield dove one final time for the win – decided by an audience vote.

Eggert attempted a double back flip off the seven-meter platform but landed flat on her back. “I need help. I hurt my back,” she said after the awkward landing. (It would appear that this was the dive that left her bruised and swollen.)

Bushfield then performed an impressive dive of his own, featuring two and a half front flips and entering the water head first, which he hasn’t done much since his injury.

It paid off, and Bushfield took home the title of Splash champion!

Of his wife, Sarah Burke, who passed away after a ski accident last January, Bushfield said, “I think I’m just inspired by my wife Sarah, looking down.”
