Sonja Morgan on Bethenny Frankel's New Boyfriend: 'I'm Excited She Has Someone to Hold Hands With'

Bethenny Frankel and Paul Bernon made their Instagram debut last month while celebrating Christmas together

Sonja Morgan is a big fan of love.

The Real Housewives of New York City star, 55, opened up about her costar Bethenny Frankel’s new relationship with real estate developer and film producer Paul Bernon, saying she couldn’t be happier for her friend.

“I’m very excited that she has someone to hold hands with,” she told PEOPLE while discussing her new partnership with CoolSculpting.

And while Morgan remained tight-lipped on whether or not she’s met Bernon, she said she “loves when my friends are happy.”

In October, multiple sources told PEOPLE that Frankel is in a relationship with Bernon.

They made their Instagram debut as a couple last month while celebrating Christmas together in the Dominican Republic.

Frankel, 48, shared two photos of herself with Bernon. “Bye bye Dominican Republic. What a beautiful country of people,” she captioned the image, adding the hashtag #healingretreat.

In the first shot, Frankel and Bernon can be seen smiling while enjoying cocktails with the view of the ocean. And in the second photo, the couple posed for a selfie wearing matching sunglasses.

Also in December, Frankel publicly thanked Bernon for saving her life after she suffered a near-fatal allergic reaction.

“I have a rare fish allergy. Sunday, I had soup, itched & was unconscious for 15 mins then to ER & ICU for 2 days w BP of 60/40,” she tweeted of the incident that left her hospitalized. “I couldn’t talk, see, thought I had a stroke & dying & told if 5 mins later I’d be dead. 911 & EPI saved me. I’ll never not carry an #epipen.”

In response to a fan who brought up the Bravo star’s “new boyfriend,” Frankel acknowledged his role in the scary incident, tweeting: “He saved my life.”

A source told PEOPLE Frankel “almost died.”

“It was that serious,” said the source. “Her blood pressure was through the roof and she was unconscious. She went into anaphylactic shock. Her boyfriend friend saved her life.”

The budding romance comes at a bittersweet time. In August, the Skinnygirl mogul’s on-off boyfriend Dennis Shields was found dead of a suspected overdose in his Trump Tower apartment. He was 51.
