Soleil Moon Frye Remembers Luke Perry: 'You Had Such a Beautiful Kind Heart'

Luke Perry died on Monday, March 4, at the age of 52

Soleil Moon Frye was one of the many stars sharing her memories of Luke Perry after the Beverly Hills, 90210 actor died of a severe strok Monday.

The Punky Brewster star, 42, posted a touching tribute to Perry on Instagram, along with a smiling picture of them together — presumably taken back when the two were romantically linked.

“You had such a beautiful kind heart to me always,” Moon Frye wrote. “Your gentle voice and charm that lit up the world around you.”

She then recalled a moment the two of them had a scare together while flying in a small plane. “I will always remember holding on to you in that tiny little plane and you comforting me as we were not sure if we would make it,” she said.

“You were always sweet to me and made me feel adored in your presence,” added Moon Frye, who has been married to husband Jason Goldberg since 1998. “Sending love to your family and to you always. Xxxx”

Perry was hospitalized on Feb. 27 after suffering a stroke and paramedics were dispatched to his home in Sherman Oaks, California. A source told PEOPLE he never regained consciousness.

The actor remained under observation for five days, but died on Monday, March 4, at the age of 52.

“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke,” read a statement from Perry’s rep.

“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” continued the statement. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
