Sharon Osbourne on Daughter Kelly Leaving Fashion Police: 'It Was Just Her Time'
"She had an amazing five years on the show and she learned so much from Joan [Rivers]."
“I stand by her. You know, she had an amazing five years on the show and she learned so much from Joan [Rivers],” the elder Osbourne, 62, told Extra on Wednesday. “It was just her time. She s got to grow up, got to move into the big world.”
“.@KellyOsbourne, I am so proud of you. You can never be bought. You always wear your heart on your sleeve. #ProudToBeYourMum,” Osbourne Tweeted.
Although, Kelly made the decision to leave, she has had nothing but kind things to say about the program calling it, “the five best working years of my life.”
Kelly’s departure came just a few days after her co-host, Giuliana Rancic, made controversial comments about Disney star Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the Oscars, saying the 18-year-old actress looked like she smelled of “patchouli” or “weed.”
Zendaya, who is a friend of Kelly’s, condemned the comments, calling them “ignorant” and “outrageously offensive.” At the time, Kelly hinted that she might express how she really felt about the situation if “everyone involved” did not “make it right” within 24 hours. “Contractually I’m not allowed to speak,” Kelly said. Many took that as a hint that Kelly was threatening to leave the show. She later noted that the situation was being “rectified like ADULTS by both parties.”
Rancic later issued an apology, which Zendaya accepted.
As for Sharon’s thoughts on who should replace her daughter on the show?
“There’s lots of great names and lots of great people over at E! that they have on contract,” The Talk host shared. “They ll slip into that chair. It’ll be done and dusted like that.”
While E! said last month that no decisions had been made about the 30-year-old’s replacement, sources have told PEOPLE that Khloé Kardashian – who was one of the E! personalities that contributed to the network’s Oscars pre-show coverage – is interested in joining the show.
