For the record, Sarah Jessica Parker is not that much like her Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw.

“People probably don’t realize that Carrie Bradshaw was radically different from who I was, who I continue to be,” Parker told WSG Magazine. “I think that sometimes because we look alike and live in the same city and haunt the same neighborhoods, that it was sort of like I was playing in the sandbox, when in truth it took real work every day to be her, to understand her, to not judge her.”

Parker, 50, said that Carrie handles marriage differently and struggles financially in a way the actress doesn’t at this point in life, and that the role was quite “challenging.”

“I still love the idea of being somebody else,” Parker said.

Parker played Carrie on the HBO series from 1998–2004 and in two films, released in 2008 and 2010. She won four Golden Globes and two Emmys for Sex and the City.

Though Carrie didn’t get married to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) until the first film, Parker wed husband Matthew Broderick a decade earlier in 1997.
