Entertainment TV 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' : See Count Olaf's Hilariously Sinister Disguises in New Trailer A Series of Unfortunate Events premieres Friday, Jan. 13 By Brittany King Updated on November 17, 2016 11:00 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Count Olaf sure knows how to rock a pair of hot pink heels! PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the new trailer for the highly anticipated Netflix show A Series of Unfortunate Events — and what a tease it is! Based on Daniel Handler’s best-selling book series, the story features Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) dressing up in a handful of sneaky and downright weird disguises, in the hopes of outsmarting the three orphaned Baudelaire kids. Why? In order to steal their late parents’ fortune, of course! Netflix The new trailer features Harris wearing so many different disguises that it’s actually hard to keep track — but these characters are delightfully evil. We first see Count Olaf as Captain Sham, and what a sham he is! Then we meet Detective Dupin, who’s giant gold sunglasses can’t hide that gross distinctive unibrow. There is also the bald, yet somehow long-bearded, Stefano — though it’s not the most handsome disguise, it just may work. Netflix The trailer also features the very stylish Shirley, who is seen wearing nothing but pink, pink, and more pink as well as chic hairstyle of pinup curls (who knew Count Olaf was so into glamour?). Last but not least, we see a devious looking Egyptian King, who’s surrounded by two gorgeous women. Netflix But the kids begin to see right through those somewhat witty disguises — or so they think. “This man is really Count Olaf in disguise,” Klaus Baudelaire (Louis Hynes) says at one point. As for his sister Violet (Malina Weissman), she’s tired of running from evil Count Olaf and flat out asks him near the end of the trailer, “Why do you hate us so much?” “Because it’s fun!” he snarks back. Sadly, no matter how far away the kids run from him, Count Olaf always seems to be right around the corner… “Where ever you go, I will hunt you down!” he tells them. The extended trailer also features a first look at Alfre Woodard as Aunt Josephine, Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss, Catherine O’Hara as Dr. Georgina Orwell, Usman Ally as Hook-Handed Man, and Patrick Warburton as the wonderful Lemony Snicket. A Series of Unfortunate Events’ eight-episode first season premieres Friday, Jan. 13.
