As the full cast is revealed, so is the show's surprising set up – including a revolving door of contestants
With the recent announcement of fan favorites Marquel Martin and Michelle Money joining the cast, the Aug. 4 premiere of Bachelor in Paradise is sure to bring fun, feistiness and plenty of unforgettable moments.
But the show’s contestants, who will compete for another chance at onscreen love in Tulum, Mexico, are in for a few surprises – including a new twist that will shake things up at the start of every episode.
To kick the show off, 14 former Bachelor stars will arrive at the tropical destination to spend time getting to know each other, but at the end of the night only six men will hand out roses – leaving two women flowerless and on a flight back home.
Contestants shouldn’t get too comfortable playing matchmakers! After the first night, each episode brings two new Bachelor alum members into the mix, alternating between men and women for seven weeks, as viewers watch old romances being rekindled and new sparks being ignited.
See who will be vying for love – and roses! – during the series premiere of Bachelor in Paradise below.
Sparks didn’t fly between Juan Pablo Galavis and Hansen, 25, who packed her bags and headed home after she didn’t receive a rose during the third week.
Fans were shocked when the season 9 frontrunner, 29, pulled the plug on his romantic relationship with Desiree Hartsock, right before many were expecting her to hand him the final rose.
Ronco, 26, got very little screen time with Galavis before ultimately being sent home during the rose ceremony in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Her sweet demeanor didn’t do it for Sean Lowe, who said goodbye to Parr, 26, on a two-on-one date.
He started off as a shy guy from Boston, but during a one-on-one date with Dorfman, Petit, 26, brought the Bachelorette to tears when he opened up about his past. He was ultimately sent home just a week before hometowns.
Her free spirit kept things interesting as Aragon, 25, tried to win Galavis’s heart. But in the end, the happy-go-lucky hippie from Los Angeles was sent packing.
After confessing his love – and admitting he almost bowed out of the competition early – Grodd, 26, was crushed when Dorfman decided to send him home after meeting his family.
After taking Emily Maynard to meet his family, Bukowski, 27, was devastated when he didn’t make it to the final three. But his second chance at love wasn’t any better when he showed up during Dorfman’s cocktail party, only to be stopped by security.
The Houston native, 29, took some heat when he made an offensive comment about Maynard’s daughter, earning him a one-way ticket back to Texas.
His sweet smile and quirky style sense – sneakers and a tuxedo for the first night! – weren’t enough to win over Hartsock, who sent Kalter, 29, home in the fourth week.
After flying under the radar, Hernandez, 30, started to feel a spark for Dorfman, but the feelings weren’t mutual and he headed home after four weeks on the show.
As previously reported, AshLee Frazier, Ben Scott, Clare Crawley, Daniella McBride, Elise Mosca, Graham Bunn, Lacy Faddoul, Michelle Kujawa, Robert Graham, Sarah Herron, Martin and Money will join Petit and Grodd as part of the initial arrivals. Then Forester, Bukowski, Hansen, Sattler, Ronco, Parr, McMahon, Aragon, Hernandez and Kalter, along with Jesse Kovacs, will be making surprise appearances throughout the show.
