In case you were wondering, Jamie Lee Curtis is a “dreamy” costar – at least if you ask the actresses of Scream Queens.

The 56-year-old actress was a generous den mother to the sorority sisters on the set of Ryan Murphy‘s highly anticipated horror-comedy set to premiere this fall on Fox.

“She’s amazing,” Emma Roberts told PEOPLE at the San Diego Comic-Con Scream Queens press room on Sunday. “She brought us gifts, all these little parasols, and she brought me some books.”

With an all-star cast including Roberts, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, Ariana Grande and Billie Lourd, the series follows the ladies of Kappa Kappa Tao and their sorority mom (Curtis).

“She gave us green juices during the day, like, ‘Drink this,’ ” said Breslin, 19. “She’s always giving us little gifts and writing us little notes in our trailer. She’s just like, the coolest human.”

“She’s the main structure that just keeps everything together,” said Michele, 28. “She’s like our protector, and I really love that.”

“I want to be next to her more,” added Roberts, 24. “We’re so needy!”

As for Curtis, whom Lourd called a “goddess,” she’s been more than happy to take the girls under her wing – and has plenty of her own praise for the younger actresses.

“Believe me, I’m going to nest with my little birds,” said Curtis. “They’re just, you know, giving it back to you every second. It’s really extraordinary. And I think it just is a testament to the professionalism that young people actually do have that we take for granted.”

Scream Queens premieres Sept. 22 on Fox.
