Was Scott Disick trying to party away his heartache?

PEOPLE has learned that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star filmed the video for Chris Brown‘s “Picture Me Rollin'” just 10 days after Kourtney Kardashian decided to end their nine-year relationship.

Disick, 32, plays on his party boy persona in the video, which was released Thursday and also stars Khloé Kardashian‘s ex French Montana. In one scene, he calls Brown, 26, and tells the singer: “I really can’t f— all these bitches without you.”

In fact, that image – and the dark reality behind it – spurred the couple’s early July split when Disick was photographed cozying up to another woman on vacation. The day after the breakup was confirmed, an insider told PEOPLE the next day that Kardashian, 36, “was over dealing with his constant lies and addictions.”

Two days later, another source close to the situation revealed that “Scott insisted that his drinking is under control, that he’s not in a spiral, but everyone around him knows the truth. He has been lying to everyone, saying that he’s clean and sober … and he insists that he doesn’t have a problem.”

But a source involved in the music video on July 16 confirmed that Disick, who appears inebriated in the video, was still abusing alcohol during the shoot at the house he purchased last December and moved into on July 9.

Ultimately, Disick checked into rehab in October for the second time this year in order to save his family and since then, Kardashian and their three children Mason, 6, Penelope, 3, and Reign, 1 have spent time with him as she continues to gain trust.

Now, it’s Disick who is hurting as Kardashian is involved in a surprising romance with Justin Bieber. Though Disick is still expected to join his family at Kris Jenner‘s legendary Christmas Eve fete, he’ll likely ring in the New Year alone, as he hosts a bash at Las Vegas’ 1 Oak nightclub.
